Airbnb recently collaborated with Maharashtra Tourism, its MoU partner, to create awareness about sustainable tourism. On the occasion of World Tourism Day, Airbnb hosts joined 200 volunteers led by the State Minister of Tourism, Jaykumar Rawal for a Heritage Walk, followed by beach cleaning efforts at Girgaon Chowpati and Marine Drive in Mumbai.

Airbnb supported the cleanliness drive by offering resources and information to participants in the form of sustainability tips co-created with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). This initiative follows from the signing of a MoU with the Department of Tourism and Culture, Government of Maharashtra, aimed at creating positive travel experiences for both domestic and international visitors in Maharashtra.

This year, Airbnb is supporting United Nations World Tourism Organization’s (UNWTO) theme of 'Sustainable Tourism - A tool for Development' as a gold sponsor.
