Goa emerged as a hot favourite among Indian and international travellers to ring in the New Year, as per a survey by Skyscanner. The study witnessed a 91% rise in domestic searches to Goa and a 63% rise in international searches during the same travel period (26 December 2015 to 3 January 2016) as compared to the week before.

Countries that recorded the highest searches to Goa in the last week of 2015 include the United Kingdom and Russia, contributing to 41% and 38% of searches performed respectively.

“Of late, experimental travelling is becoming a common phenomenon among Indians. Increasingly travellers are combining their itineraries with events surrounding the arts, music, food, sports and entertainment. A surge in travel searches to Goa during the last week of December is indicative of this trend since a slew of big international music festivals, including Sunburn Goa 2015, is taking place during the same time period.
