The national tourism organisation of Great Britain has launched a B2B campaign with ACP Rail in India. This educational trip is a part of this campaign. Agents started their educational tour in Edinburgh, before travelling north for a two-day tour of the Scottish Highlands. They headed across the border into Northern England, finishing their trip in the medieval town of York.
Why explore Britain Train ?
Train travel is one of the most relaxing and enjoyable ways to explore Britain with seamless and easy connectivity being provided by BritRail all across Britain.
It is  usually fairly easy to find the city centre from the main stations around the nation with directions well signposted to town centres and key sights. There are usually bus stops located outside stations along with cabs. Trains on Sundays and public holidays can be slower and less frequent than normal.
With over 2,500 train stations in Britain, visitors have the chance to discover both cities and countryside throughout England, Scotland and Wales. Travel times between key destinations are very fast, for example London Kings Cross-Edinburgh 4hrs 20mins, London Euston-Manchester 2hrs, London Paddington-Bath 1hr 25mns, London Kings Cross-York and Manchester Piccadilly-Lake District 1hr 40mins.
Britain’s fastest and most comfortable trains are those on the mainline routes. It is always advisable to reserve your seat in advance, especially if you want to travel at peak times, such asFriday evenings, Public Holidays, etc. Mainline trains have dining cars and air-conditioning, and they are fast – for example travelling from London to Scotland’s capital city Edinburgh takes just 4 hours and 20 minutes direct, or from London Paddington to Wales’s capital city Cardiff it’s just 2 hours direct.
A yellow line above a train window indicates a first-class compartment. Stations are usually well signposted to town centres and key sights, and buses usually stop outside, along with cabs convenient availability right across the city to the station. Trains on Sundays and public holidays can be slower and less frequent than normal.
The BritRail Pass
The most cost effective way to explore Britain by train is with a BritRail Pass, which also includes many 2 for 1 attraction offers. With a BritRail Pass visitors can travel anytime and anywhere on the national train network, so they can just as easily uncover the delights of Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland as they can relax on a beach in St Ives, Cornwall.
Rail Travel to promote regional destinations in UK
Rail travel within UK is one of the most important part of the strategy to promote beyond London destinations amongst Indians & the agents were quite appreciative of the flexibility of the BritRail pass which not only provides access to near unlimited inter-city travel but also free travel on airport links such as Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted Express trains to and from central London..
All of the hosted agents are considering sign ups with ACP Rail & will soon begin installing their software to enable sale of UK rail passes along with sector tickets to promote Rail Itineraries and thus give a fresh approach towards the UK holiday experience.
There was extensive social media coverage of the educational with all agents posting images/videos of their journey on their respective Facebook pages. One of the pictures received over 1000 combined likes & went viral within Indian travel trade community soon after being posted.
